Certificate in Gestalt Psychotherapy
General information and rationale:
The Post-graduate Certificate in Gestalt Psychotherapy programme, is an NCFHE accredited, MQF Level 7, part-time programme carried out over a timeframe of 24 months. The main aim of this programme is to offer the basics in Gestalt Psychotherapy in terms of theoretical knowledge, skills, competences and experience. In this way the programme represents a comprehensive introduction to Gestalt psychotherapy and is suitable both for: a) individuals who are planning to continue their education in Gestalt psychotherapy (after achieving this certificate) and to become licenced psychotherapists; and b) for individuals who do not want (or do not have the necessary qualifications) to become psychotherapists but want to learn this subject in order to achieve personal development, growth and intrinsic satisfaction.
In order to achieve the programme’s aim and to meet the needs of all intending students, this programme is tailored with all the standards prescribed by the European Association for Psychotherapy and the European Association for Gestalt Therapy. The curriculum is presented through the following methods: lectures, presentations, discussions, role-plays, workshops, active work (including personal therapy) in the role of student-client in small groups, live demonstrations, seminars etc. Reflexive and critical thinking, creativity, active involvement/ participation, abilities of synthesis and analysis will be encouraged.
EAGTI-GPTIM finds it very important that every student has the possibility to show/present his/her knowledge and what was learnt experientially. In order for this to reflect the different styles and strengths of students together with areas for further growth, a variety of methods are used including assignments, presentation and answering questions inspired by the student’s written assignment and presentation.
